I may be getting my self more confused but doesn't this have to be a software problem not a telescope alignment problem as my telescope could be facing down to the ground and it does not affect where the telescope is supposed to be pointing on the SNP8 page. If I select an object when the telescope is connected the telescope cross which is supposed to be where my telescope is facing always moves slightly off the object. Getting back to my original problem where my telescopes actually faces does not affect where the cross for the telescope control is. I have checked my setup in SNP8 dozens of times and it always shows my correct positionĪccurate polar alignment I also find impossible I am in Australia in the southern hemisphere and we have no pole star and no matter how many times I have read up on how to polar align accurately it never seems to work in practice so I only rough polar align. Whenever I have tried to auto align with the motor drive it is near impossible to find the star they mention or it does not exist at all in my viewing area. My next intention is to manually line up a star in the eye piece and then connect the power to the scope and find the same star in the auto alignment section and sync the star in the hand piece. This also explains to me why many times I have tried to do any auto alignment with the telescopes hand control nothing ever used to line up. So at any time I may have moved the telescope manually the telescope would be out of alignment. The only time the telescope cross moves is when you move the motor drive.Īlthough this may be obvious to most astronomy persons it was not obvious to me. I notice then the telescope control cross on SNP8 did not move. I do not know whether this has any thing to do with the SNP8 problem but the last time I connected the telescope to SNP8 I unlocked the DEC lock and the RA lock and moved the telescope.
